IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

A magical gate way in a magician's library
to a celtic stone gateway.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

The Gate:
The gate was created with my pigment_map halo adition using
an image map. Due to the angle of rays coming from the camera it
made the image surreal. so i made the image_map part of the halo
really short and filled the center with clear and added a second halo
that was really thin to cut down the surreal blurring effect.

The Celtic Stone Gate:
I used spatch to create a box with lots of vertices, curved it
        alot and applied noise.

The Books:
The books is an include file i made to fill the shelves. Can also
fill shelves that curve. there are about 3100 books on the shelves
at first took 120 MB of memory for the books them selves.. Then
I was able to bring it down to 16 MB.. mainly by not declaring the books
in
a #declare statement (It was declared a few times) the transformations
seemed to make copies of the declared objects and did the
transformations.
So the lesson was for large (memory wise) objects put it directly into
the scene.

The Rug:
The rug is an image map of a rug that is in my house. I used Quickpict
and a Color quick cam to get an over head shot.

The Stair case:
(behind the gate, visable in the window) just cylinders cut by planes
and
a torus rotated along the x axis for the railing.

the height fields were all created using HF-Lab.

all textures were created by me in the last 6 weeks. The colors and color_maps
for the pigments were created by me using a utility i wrote (ColorEasel) that
mixes
colors and helps create color maps. (It can export current color and color_map
as text to
the windows clipboard) At this time i will not release ColorEasel it cause there
is more
i want to and and i need to standerdize similar gestures, and i need to find a
dictonary to
spell easel correctly and i want to be able to save color maps and Import color
maps
from text. (ie copy the color_map defination to the clipboard and have my
program parse
the color_map from it) But i need time and i'm in the middle of moving
