IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

I recently joined the IRTC Admin team as one of the "extended" members who
lurks in the background making occasional advisory noises, while Chip, Bill,
and Micheal run the real show out front. I decided it was my duty this round
to carry on a fine IRTC Admin tradition - the rendering of a "WinSeat" image.

Of course, being me, I have to do it better...bigger...more computationally
intensive...

I was thinking of doing something real complex with it...but decided to try
the "less is more" approach this time around. Well, that and I almost
ran out of time to get in an entry this round! But for a good reason this
time, not just procrastination...I finally landed my first "after college"
job, working at a small gaming company, and the job is consuming pretty well
all of my free time...and I'm loving it!

"You know you have the perfect job when you voluntarily go in on Sundays, just
so you can play at working some more...."

Anyone wanting to find out more should go check out our company web site, at

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

I made the initial "winseat" image as a simple scene of snowy-capped mountains
visible through a window located just behind the left wing of an airplane. A couple
of engine housings are visible along the trailing edge of the wing.

I then used this image as an image map, added a frame, threw it on a wall, pointed
a couple of lights at it, added a sculpture, some nice atmospheric effects,
a wooden floor, and wooden ceiling beams. Voila! WinSeat lives again!

Pretty well everything in this image is a simple primitive, with the exceptions of
the julia_fractal (a complex primitive!) and the height_field mountains.

I've included the source for both the WinSeat image and the final image. Both images
are portrait orientation.
