IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

When you thing of a great engineering achievement, you usually
think of something like the great pyramids, the eiffel tower, or other
large and obtrusive things. However, these accomplishments aren't
true engineering which is the art of building something which costs
more than you can afford for a price that you can afford.
This image shows one such accomplishment - the motherboard of the
first 8088 based machine.

The main CPU is on the left side of the screen (very unassuming
looking chip) The big board to your right is the Floppy Disk controller.
None of the other expansion boards are included in this rendering,
and I ran out of time to include all the wires and chips,
but everything you see is taken from my old motherboard sitting
on my desk.
