IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
I wanted to create a full size building, one picture can not
convey the whole
constuction. There are 3 pools, one rectangular frigidarium and two
semi-circular tepidaria.
I used scans from Roman mosaics around the pool and entrance and for some
floor tiles.
I used the Baths of Caracalla in Rome, as well as the baths at Bath,
England as models.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:
    I started modelling the columns,
making groups of them combined with a base and decorative stonework. I found
that using simple boolean
geometry was the fastest to render. The arches were the hardest to make because
of the complex
cylinder subtractions. I also had a hard time getting the right "look" to the
water. The lighting adds
a lot to this picture. There is yellow-white sun coming in low from the left,
there are two lamps, one that
can't be seen is throwing a reddish light, while the one that can be seen is
throwing a greenish-yellow
light. There is also a white spotlight from the ceiling of the dome.
