IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

The image is a night photo of the Hoghan-Mochorovic distillery
facilities situated on Solaris IV.The red planet in the background is the
planet's moon, whose colour turns to red once in a year, due to coincidence of a
particular angle between the planet and the moon and the atmospheric
degradation of the visible frequencies of light...(Really?!?)

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THE IMAGE WAS CREATED:

All the models and background buildings are 3dsmax objects. Most of them
are extrude or lathe objects, along with deformations and mesh smoothing. The
lights are either standard spot lights or omni lights, most of them coloured
white. The light the moon emits,is a wide angle spotlight coloured
light-red.Some of the lights use volumetric effects to simulate fog in the
distance.Fog is also applied to the objects, but not to the background. The
colour of the fog, though,is similar to the background's,so that it gives the
effect of fading to the objects. The background is a gradient map with a little
bit of noise, along with a starfield created with Universe. The planets are part
of the starfield, created with Universe too. Finally, the textures are mostly
bitmap maps created with Paint Shop Pro,while some(such as the water) include
reflection and bump maps.
