IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

I decided to do a picture of an airplane landing in the dark.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

This is my first submission to the IRTC.

I modeled this project in several steps. The airplane went first. I've used
it
in a few projects. It was created after this phase of the competition was
started. I drew out the basic shape of the picture on a sheet of graph paper
and then converted the forms I produced into a set of spline objects in Ray
Dream.

The ground and airport came next. The ground was created with the
Four Elements extension pack for Ray Dream Studio. I made the tarmac by
extruding outlines. I modeled all of the objects of the airport in seperate
files and combined files at the end.

Not many textures were used in this piece. Ray Dream's procedural shading
tools are so nice, you don't feel like resorting to textures. So most of
the scenery was straightforward procedural textures, except for the lines on
the runway, which was applied over the asphault texture.
