IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

A rather literal and rather surreal interpretation of the term "worlds within
worlds": A series of small ring shaped planets linked together, so that each
passes inside the next.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

I came up with this idea one lunchtime at work, half-way through the competition
period. I played around with it a little, and within 30 minutes had the basic
planet-chain objects that form the main part of the picture. I then added an
atmosphere and some textures and the result looked much like what you see here,
after less than 2 hours work!

I hadn't planned on doing this image, because I was already working on a picture
for this round (title: "The Wardrobe"). But after getting such a nice result I
found it impossible to resist. I added some distant trees and buildings, and
put the grass and spaceship in the foreground. Thanks to Dearmad for pointing
out the "sci-fi art" look of the picture on the pov newsgroups, which lead to
me putting in the spaceship :)

Time constraints of working on 2 images, and working lots of overtime at my day
job, meant that there isn't as much detail in this scene as I would have liked,
but I'm still very happy with the scene as it is.
