IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

You're looking into a rather old and weathered window. You can see a glimpse of
an interior on the inside. Is the building presently occupied? Was it once
occupied, but now abandoned? Certainly, whoever lives here has neglected to
care for the property as you can see that the grass and wildflowers have grown
up as high as the windowsill. What is the story here? I'll let each of you
give your own interpretation of what happened here. :)

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

This picture basically created itself. I had almost nothing to do with it. ;)
It was one of those "happy accidents" where everything just sort of comes
together pretty well without a lot of extra effort. I love it when that
happens. :)

I started with a window. The window here is made of Bryce primitives (cubes and
cylinders) that are booleaned together. It was very aggravating to create
because I am not good at architecture. I very much want to improve in this
area. Anyway, the window itself was created for another picture I did called
"January."

I retextured the window and changed it slightly, removing some of its parts and
adjusting the size of others, etc. The texture is a picture texture I found
somewhere on the net. I used various mapping methods on the different window
parts to make it do what I wanted.

The flowers are a tweaked version of Walli's Cranesbill Meadow from the Xfrog
Flowers1 Library. I used Xfrog to create my own version of the flowers and
made a small group of them. I created the grass in Xfrog. The plants are a
tweaked version of Orio's Laurel tree from Xfrog's Mediterranean Library. I
used only some of the branches.

The interior is a 2D pic that I placed behind the window. There is one radial
light, which I placed between the 2D pic and the window. The only other light
is from the sun. I made a custom sky to get the kind of coloring I wanted.

The glass is Bryce preset that I found somewhere on the net that was originally
supposed to be used for ice, but I added some bump properties, color and
refraction to get it to look the way it does.

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. I hope you enjoy it. I've never
entered this contest before. Gilles Trans suggested that I enter this pic as
the subject matter seemed to reflect what this pic is sort of about.
