IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

A vast and cold landscape. Who would actually
want to live here all alone?

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

Like always, I used no external modeller, everything
was done in pure POV.

I was actually scripting a program which eventually
should be used to vegetate heightfields, and had
been thinking about making a grass-covered landscape
with but one flower. As a friend pointed out that
amidst all the grass, a flower doesn't appear that
lonely, I left the grass away, and after moving
across some desert-like images (the color of the
landscape was too much influenced by the sunset),
I ended up with this winter-like scene.

I've modelled a single heightfield using pigment-
patterns, and placed this one several times for depth.
The iglu is made with simple CSG: some spheres, cylinders
and torii did the job.

The sky and haze was achieved using scattering and
emission media, which was kinda difficult to tweak,
cause every new test-run requires some time to trace...

The sun was modelled using a cone filled with
scattering media, positioned with the wide end
near the camera and the tip towards the light-source.

The soft glow on the iglu was also achieved with an
emission-media in a sphere-container.

All in all, a rather simple image, the hard part
was tweaking the lights and media.
