IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

Scene is in a part of Australia where it seldom rains. The
foreground is the cracked dry mud in a waterhole that has almost completely
dried up. A flock of parrots has come to drink from the last puddle.
In the middle distance a flock of Cockatoos is passing.
Hot air distorts the distant landscape and a layer of hot air
on the ground reflects the sky and gives the illusion of distant water.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

This image is mainly simple CSG. The dry mud is a crackle
height-field. Middle and distant landscape are Fractint height-fields. The heat
distortion is made by viewing through a clear height-field. The birds are CSG.
