IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

The picture shows a man stuck alone in the middle of an icy ocean with nothing
but his life
saver. I had this idea when I went on a boat and looked around, seeing nothing
but water. That's
not the classic kind of desert but I found it even more empty than a regular
sand desert.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

This is a pretty simple picture since I didn't had much time to make it. First
of all, I modeled
the life saver in Cinema 4d and positionned the man in Poser 4 in order to show
that he's holding
the life saver tightly. Then, I exported everything in Bryce 5, which is a
wonderful 3D landscaping
software. So I made a dark rainy sky and an infinite water slab. The raindrops
are negative objects
grouped with the slab. For the icebergs, I used a highly reflective material
which creates a very
nice effect of sunlight bouncing off the ice.

I spent the most time on adjusting the ice's material and the sky aspect, but
the rest was pretty
fast and simple.

I didn't try anything else but I really recommend Bryce to create great
landscapes and simple
animations. It's an easy-to-use 3D application.
