IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

This scene depicts a board wargame from the mid to late 1970's. Board wargames
featuring cardboard counters and a printed hexagonal grid map were first
produced in the 1960's and were genrally military in nautre. Subjects ranged
from the ancient battles through modern conflicts and even to futuristic
science fiction scenarios. World War II games such as "Squad Leader", and
"Third Reich" seemed to be the predominent subject. The advent of fast,
inexpensive personal computers, and the development of the PC as a gaming
platform pretty much sealed the fate of the old board wargame, though there is
still a healthy and active base of fans and players online.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

The shapes used are mostly simple rectangular boxes. I modeled the objects in
Anim8r and exported them in 3DS format. I created the various textures using
Project Dogwaffle. I used PoseRay to convert the models to POV format, then did
some minor tweaking of the POV source before rendering the final picture.
