IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
One of Hollywood's favourite ways of destroying the Earth!
Yes, the White House and the Eiffel Tower will be wiped out, as always!

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

The asteroid is a 320,000-triangle mesh2 object built from a DEM of Mars'
satellite Phobos
with a home-made Perl script. The starfield is built by a home-made macro which
puts
low-saturation spheres in the camera field (and only there: it saves a LOT of
time).
The flare is made with the famous nkflare macro, because my own flares do not
look so
cool... yet! The Earth map comes from
http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Newsroom/BlueMarble/
The hardest part was to make the "dem2mesh" script!
